Your hosts have a good knowledge of the area and would be pleased to help you plan your trip. Robin is a leather worker and has a certificate for Drystane Dyking. Dorothy is a knitter and has certificates to allow her to teach Machine Knitting. |

HELENSBURGH is an attractive seaside town, with plenty of restaurants and shops. There are many buildings of architectural interest including Charles Rennie Macintosh’s Hill House (National Trust) and the worlds last sea going Paddle Steamer ‘The Waverley’ calls in twice a week, during the summer. HELENSBURGH is an ideal centre for exploring West and Central Scotland. Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, Stirling, the Trossachs (Braveheart Country) and Inveraray are all within easy reach. Sea or loch fishing, sailing, hillwalking, mountain-biking and golfing (the Loch Lomond Golf Course is just 15 minutes away) are all at hand. HELENSBURGH has two train stations. Central Station which takes 45 mniutes to reach Glasgow with a thirty minute service. The Upper line gives access to the panoramic scenery of the West Highland Line with daily return journeys to Oban, Fort William and Mallaig. Glasgow Airport (GLA) is only thirty minutes travelling time from Helensburgh. Glasgow Prestwick is 1.5 Hrs car journey. |
